Almond Amaretto Cake
Ingredients
½ cup sliced almonds
1 tablespoon butter
1 (18-1/2 ounce) package
yellow cake mix
4 eggs
½ cup amaretto liqueur
(I used Butterscotch Schnapps)
½ cup water
½ cup vegetable oil
Glaze
½
cup sugar
¼
cup margarine
2
tablespoons amaretto liqueur (or substitute)
¼ cup water
Preparation Steps:
Lightly
brown almonds in butter in small saucepan.
Pour almonds and butter into greased and floured 10 inch bundt pan.
Combine cake mix, eggs,
amaretto, water and oil, blending well.
Pour batter over
almonds.
Bake at 325 for 45 minutes. Place pan on wire rack to cool while preparing glaze.
Prepare glaze by
combining sugar, margarine, amaretto, and water in saucepan.
Cook over medium heat, stirring until sugar is dissolved.
Invert cake on serving
plate. Pour glaze over cake.
