Brunch Cheese and Sausage Grits  

1 lb. sausage, browned, scrambled

Garlic salt to taste

Salt to taste

Black pepper to taste

1 c. instant grits

2 c. boiling water

1 c. grated sharp Cheddar cheese

¼ c. melted butter

2 lg. eggs

1 can chopped green chilies

 

Brown and drain sausage.  Add garlic salt, salt and pepper.  Set aside.

Cook grits in water according to package directions.  Add to sausage.

Stir in cheese, butter, eggs and green chilies.  Mix well.

Bake in well-greased 13 x 9 inch casserole at 350 for 1 hour.

Serves 8 to 10.

 

I only cooked about 45 minutes and I used Italian sausage.
