Antoni Gaudi (1852-1926)
(1900-1914) , "Carrer d'Olot"
A fascinating scenario of gardens and overdimensional architectonic forms
which seem to be born by the ground. Gaudí created an equilibry that
usually only exists in nature, but never in architecture.
Gaudi lived in the house below for 20 years; it is now a museum.
The bench is nearly 1000 feet in length. It was designed
for comfort.
The serpentine bench uses a wide range of found objects, tiles, and rubble,
all mixed and built into the ceramic finish. Great panoramic view of the city.
It was a little eerie there were no people in this part of the park.
This is the market area (Hall of the Hundred Columns). There are actually
86 Doric columns supporting an undulating ceiling decorated with mosaics.
Actually, a very large Park.
Several photos of the salamander.
